I deeply appreciate poetry. What captivates me about poetry is analogy. I come alive in making connections between the abstract and the concrete. Abstract things such as love, hate and freedom can be difficult to understand and even more difficult to communicate. People have a better grasp on trees and mountains and roads from their direct experience seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching them. In this work I've tried to use concrete, familiar and accessible language to communicate or make a connection with more abstract concepts.
I'm currently self publishing a collection of poems and proverbs titled "Doorway to the Heart".
The purpose of this short work is a part of an effort to cultivate an inheritance and treasury of wisdom, knowledge, revelation and observation to invest in future generations. Also, I desire to stir up love and good works in the community and local part of the body of Christ to which I am more intimately connected. This collection represents some of my thoughts and experiences at this stage in my life as a young man. I’m sure in the future some of my views, opinions and convictions will change as the Spirit leads in my development as a son and man of God. It is essential that all of us begin to live our lives in such a way that, with everything we do, we begin to consider how we are influencing and investing in our families, friends, children and the future generations that we will never see. I pray that my life will be one of joy and faithfulness and obedience strong enough to anchor the next five generations in the Lord. Thank you for reading.
